We went on down to the Clever Cycles store party to see if our helmets won the helmet design contest. They were actually giving away two gift cards. There was a children’s helmet design for $100 gift card (2nd place) and an overall design for a $500 gift card (1st place).

We won the best children’s design (2nd place) with Heather’s “Perfect Day”. It was pretty sweet watching Heather go up and win a $100 for a great drawing. ;)

We plan on using the money to get the little one a really really nice bike for this summer. I would like to thank Clever Cycles and Nutcase Helmets for having such a fun contest.

UPDATE: Here is the official word from Clever Cycles. I guess technically it was a second place finish, but I don’t mind. Also, here is the BikePortland update on the contest. Just pumped people liked the drawing.

PS the overall winner 1st place was by a kid who had a awesome snail drawing.

Bike Shop Review: Budget Bicycle Center

Budget Bicycle Center

This is the bike shop I went to while in college in Madison, WI.  This is really the place that peaked my interest in random old bikes.  Their show room has just tons of different bikes from old road bikes to early era mountain bikes. As a poor college student with my Trek 930 I would ride there from the north side of town just to ooogle at the different bikes.  I even had dreams of buying a Trek carbon mountain bike from the 90’s.

If you ever get a chance to hang out in madtown check these guys out.

I have been listening to “startup daddy” podcast this week and it has really inspired me to create and form my company.
I have been thinking of doing this for some time. After listening to Ian’s advice I realized that I could actually do this. Something just clicked in my brain and said go for it.
So, I did. I will provide updates here on what has been done to start up the shop, and how I got through the hurdles of starting my own company.

Stay tuned for more.
