Last ride of the year? Maybe.
Friday, October 8th, 2010I was in an IT training course this week and today was the last day of it. Being Friday and not really having a need to go back into the office I rushed home and told the Wife I was going bikin’. I have been wanting to ride since before the Mother-in-law left. Today seemed like a great day to do it since it will start raining this weekend.
I loaded up the car and headed out to Tillamook State forest. I figured it would be easier than heading out to Mt Hood traffic wise. My goal was to ride some of the Story Burn trail that I missed from my previous ride. This time I was going to start in a counter-clockwise direction.
The leaves had already changed and were already falling. Dirty earthy smells of the forest filled the air. I need to come up with a cologne of that and call it “Earthbound”. The temp was perfect and I was ready.

Every time I ride I think “This is the best time to ride” I also think “I am never ever ever gonna leave this state. This is the riding I have dreamed about for years”

This last picture turned out to be my favorite of the day. The sun was peaking through and shining on some leaves. The singletrack flowed through the woods covered with leaves.
Perfect.

I hurried around to the actual Story Burn trail and mashed the pedals on home as it was starting to get dark. I hate being out to late without lights or proper equipment.
The hardest thing about riding here is timing. I just want to stay out there, build a hobbit house, and ride. So I tend to take my time and enjoy the air.Which leaves me always hurrying on the tail end of the ride and no pics of that. Oh well.
Hopefully this is not the last Mountain Bike ride of the year, but I would be satisfied if it was. I still commute by bike daily and sometimes I will bust through Forest Park to change things up.
I will look forward.
